Popular Nigerian music star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, alongside his fiancée Chioma, continues to grieve the heartbreaking loss of their son, Ifeanyi.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday, October 31, 2022, when Ifeanyi reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at the family’s residence in Banana Island, Lagos.

Davido’s loss is not an isolated case, as several other Nigerian celebrities have also endured the painful experience of losing their sons over the years.

1. Eucharia Anunobi

Renowned Nollywood actress and evangelist Eucharia Anunobi lost her teenage son, Raymond Ekwu, on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at the age of 15.

Raymond, whom she had with her former husband Charles Ekwu, was born in 2002 and battled sickle cell anaemia from birth. He passed away due to complications related to the illness.

While mourning him, Anunobi shared an emotional tribute describing the dates marking his passing, burial, and the cultural rites observed during her months of mourning.

2. D’banj

In 2018, Nigerian Afrobeats star D’banj suffered the devastating loss of his only son, Daniel Oyebanjo III. The one-year-old reportedly drowned in a swimming pool at the singer’s Lagos residence.

At the time, D’banj expressed his grief by posting a black image on Instagram with the caption: “Trying times but my God is always and forever faithful.”

3. Mr. Ibu

Veteran Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, lost his two-year-old son, Emmanuel Mandela Okafor, on January 25, 2012.

The actor was deeply affected by the loss and later shared a touching message on Facebook, expressing love for his late son and acknowledging God’s will.

4. Aisha Falode

Respected sports broadcaster and CAF Media Committee Chair, Aisha Falode, lost her only son, Oloruntoba, on February 15, 2014, in Dubai.

According to reports from Dubai authorities, the 19-year-old was murdered, a tragedy that shocked many across Nigeria and beyond.
