Temilade Openiyi, better known by her stage name Temz, a Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, has surpassed American female music stars to set a new Billboard chart record.

The Nigerian artist made history when her song “Free Mind” set a record for the longest time a female artist has held the number one spot on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart.

This week, the song remained at number one on the chart, making it the longest run by a female artist at 17 weeks, a record.

The melody appeared on the fundamental diagram, Board Hot 100 last year, making Tems the main Nigerian female soloist to show up as a lead on the graph.

The single “Free Mind,” which is from Tems’s debut Extended Play (EP), has been streamed millions of times across major digital streaming platforms in the United States.
